Can you recover deleted Snapchat Memories?
GetMemoriesOut doesn't recover deleted Memories, and Snapchat Support can't either: its help says a Memory you delete is erased from Snapchat's servers as soon as possible. Before you give up, check that the Memory is really gone, then look for a copy on your phone, in your photo backup or in an old export.

By GetMemoriesOut. These guides start from a real 35 GB Snapchat export (18 ZIPs, Memories from 2016 to 2026) that we opened and counted. When something couldn't be checked, the guide says so.
What Snapchat Support says
From the article “My Snapchat Memories are missing”, read on October 9, 2026:
- “Unfortunately, Snapchat Support cannot recover lost Memories.”
- “We respect Snapchatters' privacy, so if you delete a Snap from your Memories, our servers are designed to erase that Snap as soon as possible, which is why we cannot recover your Memories for you.”
Snapchat's help describes no trash folder for Memories.
First, check the Memory is really gone
- Update Snapchat to the latest version.
- Clear the cache: in My Account, tap the gear icon, then Clear Cache, and Clear All on iPhone or Continue on Android. According to Snapchat's help, this doesn't delete any Memories, Snaps or Chats.
- Turn your phone off completely for one minute, then back on.
Those are the steps Snapchat's help gives for missing Memories. If they're still missing afterwards, the same page says they are lost.
Archived Memories aren't deleted. From January 2027, Memories more than a year old beyond your oldest 5 GB stay on Snapchat as thumbnails, and opening them takes a paid plan. The Memories storage plan guide has the details.
Where a copy may still exist
- Your camera roll. If your Save Button was set to Memories & Camera Roll, each Snap you saved also went to your phone's gallery. The camera roll guide shows that setting.
- Your photo backup. A copy in the camera roll may also be in iCloud Photos or Google Photos. Look in their recently deleted album too.
- An old export. If you downloaded a My Data export before deleting the Memory, it's in those ZIPs. The ZIP guide shows where.
We know of no way to bring back a Memory that exists in none of these places. Since Snapchat erases deleted Memories from its servers, be wary of any app that promises to restore them, above all if it asks for your Snapchat password.
Before you lose anything else
Snapchat's help asks you to check that your Memories are fully backed up before you log out, log in on another device or uninstall the app. Backup runs on Wi-Fi, or on mobile data if you turn that on.
To keep your own copy of every Memory, request the free My Data export. Then the free GetMemoriesOut recap counts what arrived and gives the date of each Memory missing from it. The missing Memories guide explains why some don't arrive.
