GetMemoriesOut

Guide · before you check your export

Request your Snapchat export right the first time.

The only way to get your Memories out of Snapchat is the “My Data” export. Here's how to get all of it, photos and videos included, in four steps. Then you drop it here.

Can take up to 7 days
  • Steps 1 and 2 on your phone
  • Steps 3 and 4 on a computer

On your phone? Do steps 1 and 2 right now. Bookmark this page and come back on a computer once the email lands.

Step by step

Four steps, nothing missed.

The screens below are sketches. Snapchat's real screens can change.

  1. 1Phone

    Ask Snapchat for your export

    • In the app, open Settings (the gear icon), then My Data. On a computer, go to accounts.snapchat.com, then My Data.
    • Turn on Export your Memories, then pick Request Only Memories.
    • To get everything, turn off the date filter.
    • Double-check your email address, then tap Submit.
    • Once you send a request, you can't cancel it.
  2. 2Email

    Wait for Snapchat's email

    • Snapchat emails you a link when your export is ready.
    • Give it up to 7 days. A big export can take longer.

Remind me

Snapchat often takes a few days to get your export ready. Pick when we should ping you.

When should we remind you?

You'll get the link right away, then one reminder in 3 days. After that, your address is deleted.

Your data

We store your address, your language, up to three dates and an unsubscribe code, for eight days at most. For those eight days we also keep a SHA-256 fingerprint of your address, so we never send you the link twice, even after you unsubscribe. Resend, which sends the emails, keeps the address and the text of each email for 30 days on its side. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Full details are in the privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

Or put it in your calendar

  1. 3Computer

    Download everything on a computer

    • Open the link on a computer. Snapchat itself recommends downloading on a computer instead of your phone.
    • On the My Data page: See exports → Download.
    • Your export may come as several ZIP files. Download every one and leave them as they are. Don't unzip them.
  2. 4Computer

Come back here on that computer

    • Drop your ZIP files into the tool. It counts your Memories and shows you any that are missing, before you pay a thing.
    • Your files stay on your computer.
